I hate wearing compression socks and I don't wear them when I wear shorts (which is kind of rare these days).
If I were to wear them with shorts, I'd look like an old, retired man. That's all.

I just don't get it. I had one pair and did not like them. No other type of sock seems to come in open-toe models, just compression. Why do people get/prefer open-toe compression socks?
I already have some compression socks however, I have no idea if they are the correct fit or not.
They are tight around my shins and calves and go up to my knees, but that is all that I know. What concerns me is that the banding at the top kind of digs into my skin and leaves a little bit of an indentation when I take the socks off. The indentation goes away after a little while.
Is there a way or method of determining perfect sizing for compression socks? How do I know if the ones I am wearing now are correct? Right now I just ordered XL 20–30 based on my leg and foot size. I am not sure if that is the best way to do it or if I can be more precise.
Any suggestions?
