just read last starship comic series question about movie

after dropping/destroying my tablet/e-reader I finally got a monitor that lets me catch up on comic/graphic novel reading... and so I just today finished the 1-6 issues of the Star Trek The Last Starship series. I don't want to give too much away about the series because the premise is really cool but it takes place during the burn like literally it starts right before the burn but it also brings Captain Kirk into that timeline. It sounds far fetched but it kind of works the way they do it which I will let you find about for yourself, so as not to spoil anything. The dynamic of Kirk existing in that timeline is really cool. I know that Star Trek comic books aren't usually considered canon, but with that said does anyone know if the movie with the same name that is coming out is likely to follow this same basic premise?

I hope so, because if they find the right person to play the role of Kirk and bring this to the screen with some good writing it could be the movie series that brings the fans together and moves ahead at the same time. Like combining the new with the old in a way I think could appeal to everyone.

Someone posted the lineups for Louder than Life festival and the first day is Iron Maiden and Megadeth w/ Anthrax, Alice Cooper, Suicidal Tend and METAL CHURCH! I was thinking will Ellefson try to talk to Dave since both bands will be sharing the same stage? The other thing that caught my eye is maybe I'm wrong but it's a line up of classic metal bands and then Alice Cooper??? it seems like Alice Cooper is the band that doesn't seem to fit in with the others

I was the only one who had an Amiga (I grew up in US, Connecticut) when I was a kid, well there was that guy two towns over who I met on a bbs, but I mean of the people I went to school and knew I was the only one. The cool thing about it was my "weird" computer was way better at gaming and anything to do with graphics or sound, sure if you upgraded a pc to the max you it could tech match the Amiga in some ways, but when it came to arcade style sprite based games the Amiga had it's moment when nothing could really touch it, anyway then came more powerful pc's and Wolfenstein, then Doom and the tables had turned. Of course everyone I knew rubbed it in, but I knew that it was possible for my Amiga 500 to do Doom, it just had to be done differently and so I kept waiting for that game come and it never did (well it did but it took until another century for Grind to be invented) but there was this game Citadel and I remember it was the game that finally nailed the coffin of my dreams of a fps for the original Amiga because it actually kinda looked like doom and sounded like doom but it was a mess on a standard Amiga 500. I went out and bought a used Atari Jaguar and played Doom until I finally gave up the Amiga ghost but I realize now it was quite a programming feat so I hope this isn't taken the wrong way, but it was sooo slow and ran in a tiny window it was basically unplayable although I tried to play it anyway... so today I realized a game existed called Citadel HD and low and behold all those memories came flooding back of me trying to struggle through this game but this time it was running at full speed and its actually pretty good. It makes me think if I had some kind of accelerator for my Amiga it might of been a pretty good game back then too. It was a sad time for Amigians and I remember being disappointed that the AGA Amiga's weren't the revolutionary leap in tech that the original Amiga's were... it was the end of an era for me. I thought I would share and if anyone else tried to play this back then and had a similar experience you will understand.

So yesterday I was playing Truxton 2 when the dpad literally came off and flew across the room. There goes my 6 button Genesis wired USB genesis repro controller, before that it was a xbox controller which burned out (it just vibrates when i plug it in) before that a Atari styled xbox controller which looked cool and worked well when it worked and before that a Switch controller (dpad wore out)... that's just in the last year or so.. I know what you are thinking but

I'm really not that hard on my controllers, I actually kinda baby them, but I feel like it's always a dpad issue. What is the best and reasonably priced controller to buy? I really like the sega style for d-pads and dont really have room for a huge arcade joystick.

Also does anyone else have this problem?

Lately since I completed Raiden III I've been digging into a Raiden rabbit hole, there are so many different versions of Raiden and various ports and each platform seems to have their own characteristics. The one thing I noticed is there isn't a Raiden for the king of home computer shmups the x68000. Of course there actually is a Raiden style game I found called Code Zero (link at bottom of post) and it's pretty good, but I was wondering if anyone knew of any other Raiden style games for the x68000 or other shmup clones which I've missed.

I've been playing the Sega megadrive/genesis version of this game but I read there was a version made for the x68000. In my experience anything that is released on the x68000 is always the best version (cybercore, bosconian, the list goes on..) it's pretty good on the genesis, so I have been trying to find the x68000 copy but with no luck. According to Wikipedia it wasn't officially released but I was wondering if anyone knows if there is a image of it floating out there?
