My 3 year old (13 inch) byb female beagle (32lbs) is about 8-10 pounds overweight and has been on a diet for over a year, but her weight loss has been extremely slow (that is a separate issue). She was spayed at around 8 to 9 months old. I cannot remember the exact timing but it was just a few days after her first heat. From what I have read she seems to have a hooded or recessed vulva. She constantly gets irritation around the area and it traps dirt easily. I have been cleaning it with chlorhexidine wipes for dog but the irritation never goes away. Everything I have found online says a vulvoplasty or episioplasty is the surgery used to remove the extra skin. I am trying to figure out whether this surgery is actually worth doing if it would actually benefit her in the long run or not.
