I recently got into running about a month ago. Would consider myself to have an ok base, usually run 6 miles at 9:30 pace which is my zone 2 range.
I signed up for my first 70.3 this September. I’m going to train for 18 weeks this summer. I want to complete a full at some point. Problem is I’ll be studying abroad first 4 months of 2027 and then have an internship that summer. This leaves me with two options:
Train 18 weeks this summer and do the 70.3 rest for a little and then train for ~7 weeks and do the full on November 7 before I go abroad.
Do the 18 weeks training this summer and 70.3 in September. Then enjoy the rest of the year and start training my senior year (fall of 2027) and train for about 6 months during the school year and compete a full in spring of 2028.
I think training extra for the 70.3 and then using it as a weekend workout then training for the full right after would be the more appealing option, but would love to hear advice?
