A few tips for countering Kaneki (as a Ghoul player)

A few tips for countering Kaneki (as a Ghoul player)

I am absolutely not here to talk about the fun factor when playing into Ghoul. However, I do see a lot of people saying Ghoul has no counterplay, which simply isn't true. Here are a few basic tips on playing against Kaneki.

  1. Never throw safe pallets when healthy!

This is the #1 most important advice I can give against this killer. Stop throwing strong pallets when you're healthy. Stop pre-dropping pallets. These work against most killers, but not against Ghoul.

The reasoning is simple: Not only can Ghoul injure you very easily, even over pallets (if a projectile would be able to hit you, then Ghoul can bite you), but his mobility means he can ignore pre-dropped pallets effectively.

Never throw a strong pallet (pallets around longer loops that killers have a harder time mindgaming around) until you are injured. Ghoul can not down you with his power and becomes an M1 killer after the bite. Use this to your advantage by greeding loops to stall time!

  1. Avoid dead zones/holding W

This one is easy, but a lot of people still do it. Ghoul's main strength is his mobility. Running into a dead zone or being far too greedy by holding W will get you killed since he can catch up so easily. I understand its a habit, because it counters most killers, but switch up your mindset when playing against Kaneki.

  1. Recognise sound cues

When Ghoul is no longer enraged, a global sound cue will play (tentacle sound). This is extremely important, as it means his mobility is cut by 1/3, and he'll have a harder time getting survivors injured again in very strong loops. When you hear this sound, remember that Ghoul isn't enraged anymore!

There are plenty of other tips, but these are the very basic ones. I really hope this helps anyone play into this killer. Yes, this killer DOES have counterplay. Your games will become a lot more interesting once you start using the stuff listed here.

How it feels to like/run boons in current DBD

I get a surprising amount of hate when I run boon perks, and I'm not sure why.

Is it absolutely frustrating watching someone bless the same totem 20 times after it keeps being snuffed? Absolutely. I dont like that either. But most games, I bless a boon 2-3 times max. One good spot, usually near the middle, is all I need for a good while. Yet I still get dms saying I suck and etc purely because I run boons.

I will never not apologise for not running the hard meta perks at all times... and I really dont see the issue! Boons are fun! And then they get good value, its so good!

I'm just saying, we technically already have Jason in DBD!

Tokyo Ghoul has a character named Jason, which, yes, references Friday the 13th Jason! And his mask, Yamori's mask, is an add-on for Ghoul. Therefore, we already have Jason in DBD!

Well, if you want to get extremely literal, he's technically inside Kaneki's stomach right now

I still can't believe a lot of people thought this literal walking corpse wouldn't fit DBD before he was announced

And now he's one of the most popular and iconic killers in the game.

Yeah, hes a little goofy (IM THE FUN ONEEE), but he's also a serial killer who got iron maidened in his own suit, who is still alive from sheer agony.

God I miss when the most controversial things about DBD were whether liscened killers would fit or not

Bad perk I have a soft spot for: Better Than New (or Better Than Nothing)

I have 500+ hours on this game... and I have seen someone use Better Than New one time. Once.

What this perk does - whenever you heal a survivor, they gain 16% increased actions speeds to healing, cleansing, blessing, and unlocking, until they take damage again.

Oh my God this perk is bad. A tiny 16% bonus to healing that goes away whenever they take damage is awful. But it did have it's niche in healing builds...

...until Diminishing Returns. Which turned this perk from bad to hilariously bad.

Regardless though... I still like it lol. It just feels nice giving your teammates a cute little bonus. Lore accurate Rebecca.

This perk needed buffing yesterday. For the conditions for this perk to even work, the numbers are WAY too small. You could double the number to 32%, and it still wouldn't be amazing, but it'd at least be a decent affect until they take damage again. This is the #1 perk I want to see buffed. Its so funny this perk hasn't been changed at all since it went live. Poor Better Than New

When random take hits for you/take chase from you because you're on death hook and they aren't

I love you all.

So many people in solo queue will actively just let you be tunelled or get killed when they have zero hook states to your two. Those that recognise they are far less vulnerable, and so put themselves in harms way to protect you, are truly amazing. Thank you ❤️

- Aura reveal on the killer so you know if you're safe to heal under the hook or not

- Gives unhooked survivor 20% haste for 15 seconds, then 10% haste for another 15 seconds

- Gives unhooked survivor no scratch marks or pools of blood for 30 seconds

Amazing anti-tunnel perk. AND it works in endgame. Already clutched an escape with it - unhooked Claudette in endgame, who then zoomed to the gates. It's so good.

The affects still remain after healing said survivor too. Bring a healing perk with it, and you can heal someone and they'll still have these effects for 20 seconds or so. So a fully healed survivor with 10% haste and 0 scratch marks, that's awesome.

Unfortunately, its effects aren't as good as they should be right now. Diminishing returns affects off the hook haste... so instead of giving a survivor 20% haste, you give them 15% haste, because the haste you give them gets cut in half. Why

You know what, I'm gonna cut Kaneki some slack for screaming constantly. Hes, uh, been through it to say the least...

I love games getting me into other stuff through association. Wanna watch Tokyo Ghoul now

I DIDNT GET TOBA LANDING ALL DAY YESTERDAY.

Credit where its due. This update has been a hot mess, but the map variety changes cook. I would absolutely rather play on a map in the same realm that's completely different instead of Coldwind ten times. We are all free from Coldwind - The Game - Toba - Nostromo - Midwich - Badham purgatory

u/ImperialViking_ — 12 days ago

Obviously, no, this isn't actual BM. Really funny. Game turned friendly after this, because how could it not? Survivors were all very nice so thank you to them for a good game!

u/ImperialViking_ — 13 days ago

Before anything, I want to preface that no, I am not saying survivors aren't valid in their feelings for disliking Legion. However, I do feel like a lot of the frustration comes from playing into them wrong, so I want to help that here. Especially since they've been gone for a month, more people than ever are making the wrong decisions against Legion.

  1. NEVER group up against Legion!!

Whenever you are grouped up, you are essentially giving the Legion free Frenzy value, meaning yes, you will have to mend more. The simplest way to prevent a Legion from using their power is to just... not give them have the opportunity. Understandably, it's much harder to do this in solo queue, but you can still do things like not work on a gen with another person.

  1. DO NOT heal (most of the time)!!

So many survivors heal against Legion, and it gives them so much easy free slowdown. There are *several* reasons to never heal against this killer:

A - They can injure you so easily that there's literally no point

B - Being injured is not a big deal because of the fact above, *and* the fact that Legion is actually the easiest killer to loop in the game. They have 0 chase power after the free injure, making them a pure M1 killer. If you are semi-competent in loops, you can easily stall for 30+ seconds at least every chase.

Of course, there are exceptions. If you are on death hook, then yes, heal. If you are resetting in endgame to go for a save, then yes, heal. Aside from this, however, stop healing. Just like Plague and cleansing. Do not do it unless you absolutely have to. I understand you feel more vulnerable when injured, but against this killer, it does not matter. They can injure you whenever they want.

I hope this was even a tiny bit helpful for my solo queue enjoyers out there. These two things alone will make mending far less prevalent and make you win so many more games against this killer. Legion can absolutely be very annoying, especially when your teammates continue to heal and waste time, so please don't think I am saying survivors feelings are wrong!!

Awful awful big. Needs fixing ASAP, completely nerfs the killer.

Seriously, how hard is it to not break the game every update

u/ImperialViking_ — 14 days ago

Wait... aren't there only supposed to be four of us? And why are you holding a toolbox? Don't tell me that's you, Julie!

u/ImperialViking_ — 14 days ago

Genuinely, how hard is it to not have a killer be completely broken every update. 2v8 be dammed. Another popular killer unplayable for a while

u/ImperialViking_ — 15 days ago

They're finally back today. It's been 84 years.

20 min queues and really sweaty games in 1v4 thanks to 2v8? Survivors DCing on mass the moment they hear the terror radius? No, nothing will stop me from playing my stabby crew.

Long. Live. Legion.
