I have a 2019 Audi S5 Sportback. Beautiful car inside and out. I bought it right off a lease with one owner and it had 24K miles. I’ve been driving it for about 2.5 years and it’s now at 42K miles. A few months ago I noticed a very loud ticking noise that was worse while accelerating. At first I tried convincing myself the sound was normal, no CE light so I kept driving it. I kept really good care of the car oil changes every 4 months and got it checked out periodically for anything I needed. I brought it to my mechanic and he said bring it to Audi. Brought it to Audi and they said they saw scoring on the engine block via Borescope. They said it was covered under warranty. My car has been in Audi service for over a month. They said they were going to replace the block which they aren’t. They said “there is no scoring now” once they lifted the engine and are only replacing the pistons, bearings, water pump, and oil cooler. Now I’m scared that my engine is actually scored but they lied to me just to do a patch job and slap new pistons in and call it a day. Also in between all of this happening they tried making me pay $10K saying Audi was only covering partial. Which obviously is insanity and thank god they are not charging me now.
They are only replacing the pistons and bearings. Why aren’t they replacing the whole block? Is this going to be a problem in the future for this car and should I just get rid of it?
