Disqualified from an EU selection procedure at the very end, has anyone been through something similar?
I’m posting to see if anyone has experienced something similar and could share some advice.
I applied for a position at an EU institution. The published procedure assigns eligibility verification to the first stage. I was assessed and admitted, I was sent an email confirming verbatim that Selection Committee was checking eligibility criteria including diploma and field, followed by another saying they had decided to admit me to the selection procedure.
This check was a prerequisite of being admitted in the first place.
Over the following months, I completed every assessment stage and passed them all.
After the final interview, the next day, I received an email telling me there was a problem with my diploma - more specifically that it doesn’t qualify within “other similar areas”. Not based on the duration of studies. Then a written rejection on eligibility ground.
Neither the rejection nor the review response cited under which provision eligibility checks could be reversed or done at a later stage or a disclaimer of some sort in neither the Notice of Competition or their careers guidance document, the only disqualification triggers being “failure to present documents” followed by good luck and we apologize. I am left confused on why they changed their minds.
Any advice on what I can do?
Much appreciated!
