A bunch of senators convene on April 30, 2026 to discuss preparations in case the Articles of Impeachment against Vice President Sara Duterte are transmitted to the Senate. Only ten out of the 24 senators of the Philippines attended which were

Sen. Loren Legarda (NPC-Majority)

Sen. Lito Lapid (NPC-Majority)

Sen. JV Ejercito (NPC-Majority)

Sen. Raffy Tulfo (IND-Majority)

Sen. Pia Cayetano (NP-Majority)

Sen. Robin Padilla (PDP-Minority)

Padilla was the only member of the minority bloc to attend.

Cavite 4th district representative Francisco "Kiko" Barzaga has officially joined Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban) on April 29, 2026. PDP-Laban was the former ruling party of the Philippines in 2016-2022 under Rodrigo Duterte. Barzaga has been an Independent and a hard critic of the Marcoses and an ally of the Dutertes since he left the National Unity Party (NUP) in 2025.
