Family abroad 6+ months waiting for re-entry permit—should they return now or wait?

Hey everyone, my family (Green Card holders) has been outside the US for over 6 months now. They applied for a 2-year re-entry permit (I-131) and finished biometrics back in June, but the application is still pending.

We’re getting worried about the "6-month rule" and how strict CBP might be at the airport. If they fly back to the US now while the permit is still pending, will the application be canceled? We’ve already paid the fees and don't want them to go to waste.

Should they risk coming back now to stay under the 6-month mark, or is it better to wait abroad until the permit is officially approved? Any advice would be great.

is it too late for summer 2026 as a sophomore with no internships?

sophomore here, applied to a bunch of places but barely any callbacks. no internship experience, just personal projects and a university robotics club. starting to feel like i missed the window.

what's the move at this point — keep applying, hit referral threads, linkedin cold dms? what's actually working for people right now?

open to referrals too if anyone's willing, dm me. no sponsorship needed

sophomore with no internships yet — what would you do rn for summer 2026?

kind of cooked on time. sophomore, no internships yet, been applying but not hearing back much. have some projects i've shipped and robotics club experience but no big name anything.

what would you actually do right now if you were in my position? cold dming on linkedin? referral threads? just spam applying?

also if anyone here works somewhere and is willing to refer for SWE internships lmk, dm me. US PR so no sponsorship needed. genuinely appreciate any help
