can someone turn photoshop this pic to make my sister’s boxer be wearing a nun outfit? maybe also a church-y background?
i went to a mountain today in the city i live in and went all the way to the top, practically, to find the best moss. google says i was anywhere from 7,600 to 8,200 feet in the air lol. i’ve been coming to this mountain since i was a kid (like a baby, practically), and i still don’t even know how tall it is. i just can’t remember those kinds of things, but anyway that’s besides the point.
i went up there this morning around 10 or 10:30 with my best friend after texting him asking if he was willing to drive me, and he said yes. so we got dressed, stopped at mcdonald’s on the way up, and then got to where we parked on the mountain within like 45–50 minutes.
we got out of the car and walked over to a little creek, and that’s where i found a really big rock with a little patch of moss on it that was touching the water. i grabbed some pieces and put it in my tupperware, and then we kept walking.
we found a really nice little grassy area, took our shoes off, and grounded for a bit. then we put our shoes back on because i said i wanted to go to the gift shop nearby that sells those cute little ceramic critters. i wanted to buy one (they’re ceramic or porcelain, i can’t remember), but they were like $10 each and i didn’t want to spend that today.
so we left the gift shop and went back to the area we had been grounding in, laid in the grass for a little longer, and then started getting kind of cold. we went back to the car and decided to drive down a bit more to see if we could find any lichen on the trees because i needed some for my isopods.
after stopping at one more little campsite, we were on our way back down. on the way, i asked him if he could drive me to this reptile store i really love here in town. it’s kind of far from my house, but not far from the base of the mountain, so he drove me.
i bought some manzanita wood, tiny leca balls, and a piece of cork bark for my new rubber ducky isopods that i got last weekend. but i didn’t even end up using the manzanita wood because it was way too thick for my vessel, so i’ll probably save it for a reptile tank or a bigger terrarium.
then we headed to my house, he dropped me off, and i immediately started working on cutting window screen mesh as a barrier between the leca balls and the substrate.
the substrate is about 40% reptisoil, 40% sphagnum moss, and 20% orchid bark.
then my sister came to pick me up for lunch and we went for japanese food. after we got back, i immediately started washing the moss i had gathered from the mountain. i found a couple of earthworms in there, gave some to my sister to take home to her chickens, and kept maybe one.
after my sister left, i kept messing with my terrarium, and within like an hour, this is what i ended up with.
i’m not the most proud of it, but it’s something, and i’m excited to see if it survives or dies. i already put some orange springtails in there (maybe like 10–15), so we’ll see what happens.
