Looking for advice from anyone with co-parenting experience. We have a court order that assigns specific holidays to each parent. I let the other parent know in advance that I’ll be out of town during my scheduled holiday to visit my grandma, so the kids would just stay with him during that time.

Now there’s pushback and he’s saying he’s going to call the court to see what he can do. After I told him I wouldn’t be here, he’s now also saying he plans to be out of town as well—even though it’s his weekend—and has said he’ll still do the drop-off despite me repeatedly explaining I won’t be home.

I chose not to go into detail about my trip since it’s personal, and I didn’t feel it would change the situation.

For context, I’ve been very accommodating in the past when he’s had schedule changes, even when it put me in a tough spot. I’m trying to stop over-accommodating while still being reasonable and respectful.

How would you handle this?
