Hey r/betatests, posted here a couple weeks ago looking for testers for CouchTime, a TV schedule app that tells you what to watch tonight across all your streaming services.

Got some great feedback and I have been heads down building since. 71 issues closed since that post. Here is what actually changed:

The big stuff:

  • Added calendar subscription via .ics so your viewing schedule shows up in your actual calendar
  • Guest preview before signup so you can try it without creating an account
  • Mark watched flow is a lot smoother now, was clunky before
  • Recommendations are better and streaming aware, so it only suggests things on services you actually have
  • Daily and weekly reminders via push notifications
  • Faster initial load and proper PWA support so it installs like an app on your phone

If you tried it before and bounced, it is genuinely different now. Faster, clearer, and the core loop of "open app, see what is on tonight, watch it, mark done" actually feels smooth.

Still free, no credit card, feedback still directly shapes what I build next.

Most useful feedback right now:

  • What would need to change for you to open it again tomorrow night?
  • Did the lineup feel useful after adding a few shows, or did it still feel like work?
  • Was there a moment where you thought "okay I get it" or did it never click?

Disney+ just launched 24/7 linear channels this week and honestly it makes sense. We spent years cutting the cord to escape being told what to watch, and now most of us are exhausted from choosing.

Maybe the actual dream was never "watch anything anytime." Maybe it was just having something good already on when you sit down.

Curious if anyone else feels like the decision fatigue is getting worse the more services there are, or if I'm just nostalgic for something that wasn't actually that great.

I kept losing track of shows across Netflix, Hulu, Max, Apple TV... I'd spend more time figuring out what to watch than actually watching.

So I built CouchTime, you tell it when you're free, add your shows, and it creates a viewing schedule for your week. No more "what should I watch tonight?" scrolling.

Not trying to pitch hard, just curious if this problem resonates with anyone else. Would love feedback: CouchTime
