Tile <->wood transition

I have a round tile patch in the doorway that separates the room from the rest of the house. I want to keep it. I am installing engineered wood and the wood height is about 3/16" lower than the tile height. The transition is very short about 4 ft for or so. The room is very large. I do not want to raise the whole floor for this small piece. If nothing works I will just use different levels transition.

But I got several advices just to build up about 12" or so taper to make the wood flush. To me it looks strange since the subfloor requirement is 1/8" over 6 '

What do you think,
