I don't remember much because I think I read this back in middle school. It was a real tear jerker. It follows two siblings and I think they're twins. The brother is sick, I believe, or mentally disabled, or both. Whatever is wrong with him it results in the sister having to look after him. They adopted a dog and one day the boy was attacked by a bear in the woods. The dog ended up saving the boy. At the end of the story though the boy dies and there is a scene where the girl gets hopeful that his passing was just a dream because she sees movement in his bed (they shared a room). Turns out it was just the dog in his bed and the dog started whining looking for him. Very sad. Anyone know what book this is? Please it's killing me.
