My cat couldn’t keep food down over days so I took him to the emergency vet. I have been told he has chronic kidney failure, his kidneys are compromised and abnormally shaped.
His creatinine levels have been at 700 for 4 days. He is being treated for a kidney infection with antibiotics, and he is anaemic.
He stabilised a little on fluids, I have taken him home today with a review appt in 2 days.
The vet informed me that given his condition he will at some point deteriorate and the reccomendation is to consider euthanasia to avoid him suffering.
I am so sad I have no idea what to do… he is presenting well being home the last few hours.
How long do I have?
Will he suffer severely?
How long will he start deteriorating?
Is it humane to euthanise him? Even though he hasn’t completely deteriorated?
Even if the antibiotics treat kidney infection, how bad is the impact of chronic kidney disease and anaemia on him?
What are your experiences please…. Any help and clarity is so appreciated
