So I'm applying for a NY gov position, did the first form but left out the last four digits of my SSN, because at least I'm used to not giving it.
Now I've moved on to the next(maybe final 🤞) stage of application work and they're asking for my full SSN. Is it weird for me not to give it?
I understand that it's for the job that they're asking, but they already have all the information that they need about me except for my full ssn( like literally everything about me), I feel that they can use the last four digits previously given to do the background check and filing of my application...
It's important to note that I am still only a candidate, I haven't gotten an offer letter officially, so if anything were to happen I'm the only one that's going to suffer. Also I got handed off to a new person who is asking for the full SSN on a form and even though it's from a .gov email I'm still uncomfortable to give it with so many scams and people that like to take advantage of other people...
how should I navigate this, and is this normal? All advice is welcome ✨
