The new part of Might and Magic franchise have lots of critique of the him design stile. But, for my perception, the elephant in the room of the OE graphics was been consecrated quite small - a foreign of visual of OE to the visuals of original Enroth. The designs of Enroth/old universe been a mix of 80-90 fantasy games, art and etc. (Mainly old DnD) - a classical, restrained and partly realistic. The OE been advertised as "return to the Enroth", which gives rise to the corresponding expectations to these level of continuity with original universe. But what we looking? Designs of the many of units been copied from the Ashan (like angels - than look very similar to the angels from HMM7, or T2 dark elves looks very similar to their from HMM6), or the maded in stile of modern fantasy - very unrealistic, hyperbalized and non-classical, with comparing to the original old universe designs. And this creates a problem not just of continuity of parts and disappointed expectations, but also of the functionality of the in-world logic (for example, why was unrealistic and caricaturical WoW-like armours andand weapons created in ancient of Enroth, and yet it completely disappeared to the time of the main series, while all the ancient weapons armors, including Jadamish, looks much more restrained and realistic).
