The blower motor on the 2013 Lariat started vibrating violently on any fan speed above 3. I bought a new blower motor and when I took out the old blower motor, I found this broken off piece rattling around inside the fan.

The piece has internal splines and some indexing portions. But I can't find where it broke off of. Anyone know what this piece is and how important it is?

Now I'm thinking this was just throwing off the fan balance and maybe I should just reinstall the old motor.
