I fancied creating another Commander / officer to give a bit of variety. Figure he can be an Ursula Creed stand in too, so I’ve tried to go with that vibe.
Still a bit of sculpting to finish off (particularly some details on the hat) and I need to find some places for some purity seals and some other imperium / 40k coded details - suggestions on that are welcome!
Seeing as this group was so helpful with my last question on Vostroyan stormtroopers, I thought I’d canvass views/opinions on this chap…
C&C please. In particular, I’m a little concerned about the arm/hand position and whether it’s a little static / unnatural and if they may be too large (the original model is far more realistically scaled than Vostroyans). But I’m keen to use these hands if I can to tie the model in. I will add other parts to Vostroyan-ify him, but working on the core pose first.
Thanks!
I’d love some views on whether people think this is enough of a ‘conversion’ to sufficiently differentiate these guys as stormtroopers, and whether the backpacks fit the style enough? I don’t want to move away from the core Vostroyan aesthetic too much / give myself too much work to make these guys, but want it to be clear on the battlefield what these chaps are.
I also intend to paint their hats a different colour to my main troops.
(This is just a really quick mock-up - I’ve not prepared the models at all and backpacks are just blu-tacced on).
These are all old paint jobs, and some on my old basing style. I’ll update them all at some point.
I adore these models - the variety across the officers and the amount of character in each is fantastic.
A few details to tidy (in particular, the gun shield and base), but TT ready.
I really struggle to take photos that don’t make my paintjobs look like crap and wash out all highlights 😅
I am starting to realise though that I probably need to up the contrast in my highlights. They look fine in person though. Hey ho, here they are.
I absolutely adore these sculpts (apart form the slightly odd shaped head on the bare faced guy…).
