Waterloo Biology degree with interest of Optometry

Hi, I have gotten into Waterloo Life Science and I want to know if biology is a good major to go into if I want a backup plan of becoming an optometrist. I say backup because I don't really know what I want to do and I hope to find out in the 4 years of undergrad but if I don't I'll just try for optometry. I'm choosing biology because it has a co-op option, the only other life science major with co-op is biochem but I heard its harder to have a higher gpa. I also want to do an option of bioinformatics because I like comp sci as well. Any advice would be helpful!!
