Difficult task: fine line that keeps spraypaint
Hi, I’m working on a rather specific problem and could use some input.
The requirement is to produce a very fine black pattern on a transparent film. After that, spray paint should only adhere to the areas with the black pattern, while all transparent areas must remain untouched.
I’ve been trying to figure out whether this could be done using my laser white toner printer, transfer film (meant for textiles), or possibly a spray adhesive method.
Another idea I had was to have the pattern cut with a plotter, apply it to a transparent sheet, spray over it (black plus a custom color), and then remove the masking film afterward. The issue is that the pattern is far too detailed for plotter cutting, and we’d also be talking about a lot of tedious manual weeding.
Does anyone know a practical way to achieve this level of detail reliably?
or an idea on where to head instead?
EDIT: so the end product should still be a transparent film, but with the black pattern printed partially on top PLUS spraypaint on parts of the black printed pattern. the rest stays transparent. and yes, needs to be spraypaint 😞 Can´t be print colors.
