I passed the Attorney Exam on the first try. I relocated to CA 2 years ago and have been practicing as RIHC but decided to take the Attorney Exam to obtain my full license. I graduated from law school in 1997 and have practiced as corporate counsel basically my entire career. Starting in late November, I took a course that met on evenings and weekends while also working full time. At first I knew nothing since it has been almost 30 years since I graduated and I hadn’t needed to know any topics other than contracts and real property in my practice since graduating. However, I did end up learning the law for each subject somehow (it all kind of all came together in the last 2-3 weeks before the test) and I did know the subjects tested pretty well (equitable servitudes FTW!), but i wasn’t confident that I got it down on paper coherently— I ran out of time on almost every question. I walked out of the test thinking I *probably* passed, but that I also could have failed - I gave it 60/40 odds. But I passed! So grateful, mostly because studying while working (more than) full time was unbelievably difficult (I studied about 20 hours/week) and I was dreading the thought of doing it again. Congrats to my fellow passers! And good luck to those who are going back for another try in July.
