"Evaluate the extent to which industrialization transformed social and economic life in Europe "n the period circa 1750 to circa 1900."

Between the years 1750 and 1900, industrialization in Europe played a key role in technological advancements, working conditions, and developments of states. The industrial revolution was primary caused by the agricultural revolution, which highlighted increased progress in farming techniques and goods. The industrial revolution promoted strong economic advancements in Europe due to efficient textile industries, railroads, and the steam engine, however, it also resulted in poor working conditions, terrible conditions for workers, and women and children working in dangerous conditions such as factories.

Following the agricultural revolution, the invention of the steam engine fostered growth in industralization. This established many railroads that connected different regions of a state, which ultimately promoted trade and economic progress. This economic progress was achieved through such technological advancements and increase in labor and jobs. The steam engine powered trains and allowed for a method of faster transportation, creating a more efficient way of moving goods. However, with that being said, the industrial revolution also encouraged children and women in the workfore, such as factories and other tedious jobs. During that time, the conditions of the factories were extremely dangerous, especially for children. However, it was believed that children were convenient in factories due to their small size and the ability to reach and fit through spaces necessary for the job. This ultimately caused a higher mortality rate in children due to a deadly environment. Ultimately, this caused a significant social change in Europe that highlighted children in the workforce, with major consequences following that change.

Altough the conditions and the way of work in the industrial revolution significantly shifted in today’s society, we still experience the lasting effects of the industrial revolution. One exmaple is our traditional workstyle. Most workers commit to their job from Monday to Friday, from 9 am to 5pm. This was specifically established by the industrioal revolution, although work time and expectations have changed. Moreover, the industrial revolution introduced the textile industry/factories, which we use to this day to print books, papers, and other related documents. This strongly contributed to our modern society, establishing libraries, document analyses, and worksheets.
