We have access to superchargers specially for smaller cars. We usually use the Aisin AMR500 which we bring home from Japan.

We’re looking into the feasibility of bringing in more Aisin AMR500 roots-type and other superchargers directly from Japan.

Why go for a supercharger?

• Zero Lag: Unlike a turbo that needs to "spool up," this gives you linear, instant torque from the second you touch the pedal. Perfect for overtaking in Manila traffic or climbing Baguio.

• Lower Engine Temps: It doesn't rely on hot exhaust gases, meaning less heat soak in cramped engine bays like the Suzuki Every (DA64/DA62), Jimny, or S-Presso.

• Mechanical Simplicity: It's a self-contained unit. No need to tap into your oil pan or deal with complex exhaust manifolds.

• That Iconic Whine: There’s nothing like the sound of a roots-type blower.

The Trade-offs (What to expect):

While the performance gains are massive for small engines, there are some realities to consider:

• Parasitic Drag: Unlike a turbo which uses "free" exhaust energy, a supercharger is belt-driven directly by the crank. This means the engine has to work a little harder just to spin the blower, leading to a 10–15% increase in fuel consumption depending on your driving style.

• Mechanical Noise: That "iconic whine" is awesome for enthusiasts, but it is constant. If you don't invest in proper cabin soundproofing (like the Butyl and thermal layers we use), the mechanical hum can be fatiguing on long highway drives.

• Belt Maintenance: Since the AMR500 adds another pulley to your accessory belt system, you need to ensure perfect alignment and tension. A snapped belt means you lose boost instantly.

As an example, here is what we put on a naturally aspirated K6A.
