British Crime Thriller

Looking for a British crime thriller I read years ago in a hardcover anthology (likely a Reader’s Digest Condensed Books UK edition). Details are fuzzy since it may have been an abridged version.
What I remember:

•	Main character was likely named Charlie, and he owned a casino
•	He gets framed for a crime, convicted, goes to prison, and loses his gaming licence as a result
•	After prison (or while cooperating with authorities), he becomes involved in infiltrating or taking down a large criminal organization
•	The organization had multiple layers — he had to work through them to reach the top
•	The ultimate boss was someone Charlie already knew personally.
•	The top villain was nicknamed “The Fisherman”
•	The criminal operation used a legitimate company as a front, possibly named something like “Hardman Wines” or “Hardman Breweries” (I’m not 100% sure of the exact name). The company was owned by “Charlie’s wife’s dad”

Setting / feel:
• Definitely felt British or European.
• Likely published somewhere between the late 1960s and early 1990s
Anthology context:
• I read it in a hardcover anthology/omnibus — probably Reader’s Digest Condensed Books (UK edition).
