Rant

Ok, so our store and our freight team has gone through a lot of changes here over the last few weeks. Close to 30 new hires throughout our store so the coverage everywhere sucks and there’s of course no hours to go around especially for freight. One of those new hires was for freight. This week he no call no showed and is done after I think 3 weeks. One of our full-time freight associates moved to receiving. One of our part-timers transferred back home since he’s done with school. We had a full-time associate that was with us for 4 hours then did lumber recovery for 4 and they’ve shoved him in lumber full time against his will since they can’t find anybody to work over there. Our freight team now has 6 people. 2 full time and the other 4 part time, not including me, their supervisor. We are not an overnight store (yet). We are drowning in the amount of freight and while I’m trying to figure out who we could schedule from other departments to possibly help us out, all our ASDS can tell me is that I need to find a way to make everybody more productive and make sure they’re following the end to end process correctly and that freight as we are now are still over on hours and are pulling from the rest of the store despite losing 4 people and their hours. There is no possible way for us to keep up and get everything done with the people that we have.
I was also on vacation last week for two days, they had an RDC both nights, residual from those then another RDC Monday, full SDC Tuesday, then a partial SDC and another RDC tonight. We are absolutely drowning.

Thank you for coming to my TED talk 🫩

I just wanted to see if any other stores are also suffering with a lack of people being scheduled and no coverage in departments?

We just hired no joke almost 25 people in the last month and a half but we still don’t have anybody to put in departments during the day? Last week from like 2-5 there was only two people in the whole store (excluding supervisors and managers) that know how to drive the forklift. There has been nobody scheduled mid-shift or closing in lumber regularly and they’ve had to pull one of our guys from freight to go to lumber as soon as he gets in. Garden has almost 6 bodies every night until close and for recovery/watering but none of them can help anywhere else or get pulled to other departments to help out, and our MASM will continue to pull people from other departments to go work in garden despite having minimal coverage in those departments, including giving extra work to freight team on truck nights then wants to turn around and ask why freight isn’t getting finished
