But if so, what’s an alternative very good quality washer? (Our 6-yr-old LG top-loader is junk, so no LGs for me.).

I’m much more concerned with function and performance than longggevity. I want: ability to control water level and cycles; a gentle cycle that is actually gentle; long cycles for very dirty clothes; truly effective wash and rinse cycles, etc. (Fussy technological features are not a necessity btw.)

Our home is absolutely the dustiest place I’ve ever lived. We had it built ~6 years ago, and didn’t realize at first what a cheap-a@@ job our builder did. We trusted him and his guidance. Huge mistake.

So, one thing I’m wondering is if our crappy “builder grade” single-hung windows might be responsible for our big dust problem.

Does that seem likely to you?
