How do I convince my parents who are divorced to get me tested for ADHD?
My dad does not believe in mental illnesses like ADHD. But I have been failing school my whole entire life to the point where I have a 70% chance of graduating late. Both my parents have said no to doing online school which would help me more than either of them can even imagine. Almost every teacher I’ve ever had has emailed home, called, or even had in person meetings about how I may have ADD or ADHD. But my dad openly denies the existence of those conditions. He just tells me that people with ADHD are people who their parents didn’t teach right. Now both of my parents won’t let me be tested. My dad just doesn’t believe in it, and my mother who has 2 daughters who have both been diagnosed, one with depression, and the other with autism. But I think she just wants to believe that one of her children is “normal” I have tried bringing it up personally to them and even directly to doctors but the idea is always shut down. How do I do this?
