I inherited a few birds of paradise that were abandoned by the owner. I trimmed off any damaged / dying leaves. In the process I accidentally broke the stem of this one. I used a chopstick to hold it up and press the two halves together.

The stem isnt fully severed and is attached towards the bottom.

Will the plant heal or should I just cut my losses and throw it out?

The plant is in a south facing window and recieves a decent amount of light throughout the day. Watering habits havent been established as I just got the plant but I'll water when the soil is close to drying out.
