CMS Funding Question
Does anyone know much about how programs view applicants who are swapping residencies with incomplete CMS funding? Basically I am between swapping specialties with either 1 or 2 years of missing CMS funding (ie to complete the residency program I would swap into, I would be missing 1 vs 2 years of funding). I am between applying next eras cycle / finding an off cycle swap next year as a pgy-3, or find the position during my pgy-4 year to complete my current residency program before going into the specialty / residency program I would be swapping into. Either way, I would have partial CMS funding coming with me, so I am not sure how accepting programs would view 1 vs 2 years of missed funding because either way it’s partial funding. If 2 years of missed funding vs 1 year is really not something that would matter for programs to be accepting of an applicant, then I may just finishing my current residency program program before going into my new speciality.
