Hi everyone! I (F25) am planning a trip with my mom (F56) for end of August. We fly into LHR and out of EDI for a 10 day trip. Neither of us have been to the UK before, so we are looking for some advice as it is quite overwhelming!

I was thinking of this rough itinerary
4 nights in London, staying in Kensington area
Train somewhere in betweeen for 2 nights?
3 nights in Edinburgh

If anyone has suggestions on the “in-between” town/city to go to, it would be much appreciated. We are very active and would like to see some nature or a small coastal town in between the big cities. Or, if we should just stay longer in either city instead of trying to add a third. Otherwise I have most of our attractions figured out. Thank you for your input :)
