"Just train everyone to do everything"
This doesn't work! Sure in theory it sounds like a great idea, but in practice it doesn't work for complicated businesses. Upper management needs to realize that an effective team isn't ran by everyone doing everything, they help each other by doing their separate tasks.
Please! I am begging all managers to not ever make the decision that you think everyone in your company should be trained on everything your company does.
