Bob Dylan fighting tournament ROUND 8

Rosemary's having a good time and maggie's brother got the door slammed on him.

Welcome back to the fighting tournament to determine which of Dylan's characters would win in hand to hand combat. Today we have one of the most loose and abstract characters along with one of the most concrete ones. Gypsy Gal from The Spanish Harlem Incident with her pearly eyes and Billy the Kid with a whole ass movie about him.

If you guys have seen Pat Garret and Billy The Kid, feel free to use the qualities he exhibits there as extra information to support your vote. But in this post I'll only be providing the lyrics about him in Dylan's soundtrack for the film.

Another matter, I've noticed some people don't really like that I'm doing this. I am not cartoonishly stubborn and so if this continues to be the case for the next few days I will stop. Let me know if you want more of these. Cast your vote in the comments and enjoy the lyrics below.

Gypsy Gal:

-the hands of Harlem cannot hold her to its heat

-Temperature is too hot for taming

-Flaming feet are burning up the street

-Owns Rattlin' Drums

-Can read fortunes

-Fast and slashin pearly eyes

-Flashing Diamond Teeth

-Has Wildcat charms

Billy The Kid:

-There’s guns across the river aimin’ at him

-Lawman on his trail, he’d like to catch him

-Bounty hunters, too, they’d like to get him

-they don’t like him to be so free

-Campin’ out all night on the berenda

-Dealin’ cards ’til dawn in the hacienda

-Up to Boot Hill they’d like to send him

-Playin’ around with some sweet señorita (She will lead him into her dark hallway, and greet him in lonesome shadows).

-He's so far away from home

-He's walkin all alone

-They Say Pat Garret's got his number

-Guitars will play his grand finale down in some Tularosa alley (Maybe in the Rio Pecos valley)

-There's always some old whore from San Pedro to make advances (Advances on his spirit and his soul)

-The businessmen from Taos want him to go down (They’ve hired Pat Garrett to force a showdown)

-Once shot a woman in El Paso.

-Been running for so long

Billy has like 7 songs and I'm not doing every variation on these same lyrics. Sorry.

Bob Dylan Fighting Tournament ROUND 6

My Partner dies (Let's hope it isn't contagious) And the Blue Eyed son makes up his mind to go on (to the depths of the deepest black forest, Where the people are many and their hands are all empty, Where the pellets of poison are flooding their waters, Where the home in the valley meets the damp dirty prison, Where the executioner’s face is always well hidden,Where hunger is ugly, where souls are forgotten, Where black is the color, where none is the number).

Once again, this is the tournament to find out which Bob Dylan character would win in a fight, tussle, brawl, or punch-up.

Aside from the overly long joke above, this round brings us two contestants. In one corner, Fair-Skinned and precious as a child, we have Lily from Dylan's most narrative song, Lily, Rosemary, And the Jack of Hearts. And in the other, the mysterious and deceitful Judas Priest.

The relevant lyrics have been selected and phrased as attributes. Cast your vote by commenting below, I hope you all enjoy!

Lily:

-Had 2 Queens, was hoping for a third, but drew up the Jack of Hearts (Unlucky).

-Princess.

-Fair-skinned and precious as a child.

-Did Whatever she had to do. had that certain flash every time she smiled.

-Come from a broken home.

-Had many strange affairs with men from every walk of life that took her everywhere.

-Had Jim's ring.

-Affair with the Jack of Hearts.

-Took the dye out of her hair.

-thinkin' 'bout her father, who she very rarely saw, Thinkin' 'bout Rosemary and thinkin' about the law, But, most of all she was thinkin' 'bout the Jack of Hearts (Pensive).

Judas Priest:

-Best friends with Frankie Lee.

- when Frankie Lee needed money one day, Judas quickly pulled out a roll of tens (Generous and wealthy).

-Leaves when Frankie Lee asks him to. (considerate)

-Judas pointed down the road and said, "Eternity" (Spiritually minded).
-"It's not a house", says Judas Priest "It's not a house, it's a home"(Pedantic)

-He's also like, literal Satan. It's not explicit or anything so it's really hard to include here, but Judas Priest is Satan

Queen Jane squeaks out a tenuous victory, and Ms. Lonely keeps rolling with no direction home.

Ladies and gentlemen we are back with the tournament to decide which of Dylan's characters win in combat against each other. Please cast your vote in the comments to decide who will make it to the next round.

Today, in one corner, a man is approaching you for a match, and in the other, stumbling on the side of twelve misty mountains, we have the incredibly well traveled blue-eyed son.

Below I've attached the relevant lyrics. I hope you enjoy!

My Partner (Isis):

-Needs a match.

-Not ordinary (This is very apparent).

-Offers you something easy to catch (Money isn't necessary).

-Not opposed to traveling at night.

-Possesses a blanket.

-Susceptible to howling winds and outrageous snow.

-Just being friendly.

Blue-Eyed Son

-Stumbled on the side of 12 misty mountains

- crawled on six crooked highways

-stepped in the middle of seven sad forests

-been out in front of a dozen dead oceans, and ten thousand miles in the mouth of a graveyard

-Saw a newborn baby with wild wolves all around it, a highway of diamonds with nobody on it, a black branch with blood that kept drippin’, a room full of men with their hammers a-bleedin’, awhite ladder all covered with water, ten thousand talkers whose tongues were all broken, and guns and sharp swords in the hands of young children.

-Heard the sound of a thunder, it roared out a warnin’, the roar of a wave that could drown the whole world, one hundred drummers whose hands were a-blazin’, ten thousand whisperin’ and nobody listenin’, person starve, many people laughin’, the song of a poet who died in the gutter, and the sound of a clown who cried in the alley

-met a young child beside a dead pony, white man who walked a black dog, a young woman whose body was burning, met a young girl, she gave me a rainbow, man who was wounded in love, and another man who was wounded with hatred

-Going Back out before the rain starts a-fallin.

-Going to the depths of the deepest black forest, Where the people are many and their hands are all empty, Where the pellets of poison are flooding their waters, Where the home in the valley meets the damp dirty prison, Where the executioner’s face is always well hidden,Where hunger is ugly, where souls are forgotten, Where black is the color, where none is the number

-Will tell it and think it and think it and speak it and breathe it, reflect from the mountains so all souls can see it.

-Will stand on the ocean before he starts singing

-Will know his song well before he starts singin.

Magdalena shines with diamonds in her wedding gown as the law finally catches up to Dylan.

We proceed with the tournament to determine which of Dylan's character's will win in a fight. Today we have the two ladies of Highway 61 Revisited, Queen Jane (approximately) and Ms. Lonely (From Like a Rolling Stone).

These two women, down on their luck, will face each other in a battle to death. Visualizing this as best you can, cast your vote in the comments below according to your own feeling, and, of course, the relevant lyrics below. (Lengthy)

Queen Jane:

-Tired of herself and all of her creations.

-Flower ladies want back what they have lent her.

-all of her children start to resent her.

-Clowns that she had commissioned died in battle or in vain.

-sick of all this repetition.

-Advisors heave plastic at her to convince her of her pain.

-Turns the other cheek to bandits.

-Wants somebody she doesn't have to speak to.

Ms. Lonely

-Once upon a time she dressed so fine.

-threw the bums a dime in her prime.

-people would call and say "beware doll, you're bound to fall", but she thought they were all kidding her.

-Used to laugh about everyone that was hangin' out.

-Now she doesn't talk so loud/seem so proud.

-Has to scrounge around for her next meal.

-Without a home.

-comparable to a complete unknown and a rolling stone.

-gone to the finest schools.

-used to get juiced in it.

-Nobody ever taught her how to live out on the street and she's gonna have to get used to it.

-Said she'd never compromise with the mystery tramp but now she realizes he's not selling any alibis.

-On her own.

-Has no direction home.

-never turned around to see the frowns on the jugglers and the clowns when they all did tricks for her.

-Never understood that it ain't no good, she shouldn't let other people get her kicks for her.

-Used to ride on a chrome horse with a diplomat who carried on his shoulders a siamese cat. (Later learned that he really wasn't where it's at(After he took from her everything he could steal)).

-Better take her diamond ring and pawn it.

-Used to be so amused at napoleon in rags and the language that he used. (Now cannot refuse his call).

-ain't got nothing, nor nothing to lose.

-Invisible now, she has no secrets to conceal.

Enjoy!

The tweedles have been eliminated and Mr. Tambourine Man has danced onwards!

For those unaware, this is a contest to decide which of Bob Dylan's characters would win in a Mortal Kombat-esque fighting tournament.

Today we have Magdalena Vs. Dylan himself. Two very passive and mostly reactive characters but iconic regardless.

Attached below are the relevant Lyrics:

Bob Dylan:

-Riding on the Mayflower

-Spied some land

-Sang That melody (Like all tough sailors do when they're far away at sea.)

-Short of breath and weak of knees.

-Busted out of Jail

- Went 3 days without eating

-Went into a restaurant looking for the cook, told him he was the editor of a famous etiquette book. (Master of Disguise).

-Lost his hat.

-Robbed of his boots.

-Leaped a hot dog stand and a chariot.

Magdalena:

-On The Run.

-Likes guitar music as she rides.

-Dios vigila de la

-Soon she will be dancing the Fandango

-Will shine with diamonds in her wedding gown

-Took her partner's gun.

-May not make it through the night

Tweedle-dee & Tweedle-dum

-They’re throwing knives into the tree

-Got their noses to the grindstones

-Living in the Land of Nod

-Trustin’ their fate to the hands of God

-They pass by so silently

-They’re taking a street car named Desire

-Looking in the window at the pecan pie

-Lot of things they’d like they would never buy

-Neither one gonna turn and run

-They’re making a voyage to the sun

-They’re living in a happy harmony

-They’re one day older and a dollar short

-They’ve got a parade permit and a police escort

-Tweedle-dee Dee—he’s on his hands and his knees

-They’re lying low and they’re makin’ hay

-They seem determined to go all the way

-One is a lowdown, sorry old man

-The other will stab you where you stand
