Any ucsb econ major here to guide?

Daughter wanted to commit to ucsb econ but everybody scared her of how hard it is and how everybody drops it and switches to another major, she is not really a math fan, she wanted to major in business as it is less math based.. any one been in economics, while math wasnt their subject of liking.. not really good at it, and survived economics?? Or enjoyed it? She usually likes challenges and goes above and beyond to overcome them, just too scared this will be too much and she is missing out on her excelling at another university of less prestige but one that offers the major she likes (business)

Any insights or tips?

Posting this for my daughter as hers was deleted!

Hi,

I’m currently debating between UCR and UCSB, as a student w interest in business and international relations. Though UCSB is a lot more prestigious and has a lot more networking opportunities and connections to b4 firms, I am not interested in pursuing a career in accounting. I would like to either go to law school (t14 if possible) which in this case GPA matters and Im not sure I’ll do well or enjoy economics at UCSB, or my other option would be to go into consulting. I have no idea what to pick, I know I’m not interested in studying economics or accounting , however network plays a heavy role for anyone interested in business, much more than majoring in it. While on the other hand UCR actually has business major where I’d be able to study what I’m interested in. So what do I pick? I am truly clueless on what I’m going to pick so anything would help.
