Gilgamesh (Final Fantasy)

I’m thinking a more goofy villain could be fun. Some may argue that he doesn’t count because he’s a wandering warrior type, but he was initially working for Exdeath. He’s not pure evil, of course, but he is not really heroic to put it lightly. He also has the neat thing of travelling to other universes, so his crossovers are canon a lot of the time.

He typically likes travelling through universes to find powerful weapons and worthy foes. He’s just also a bit of a goof too. Besting him in combat is a quick way to earn his respect too. That even is the case with his enemies. It can be noticed with Bartz’s party in Final Fantasy V, who he actually wished to face again in combat.

As for why him initially serving Exdeath is so bad, that is because Exdeath wished to engulf everything in the void, which would kill everyone. Needless to say, this would make Exdeath (and by extension, servants like Gilgamesh qualify as villains).

People often compare Final Fantasy VI and VII with how many things they have in common, yet executed in all so many different ways to create a different experience. I figured, let’s compare the villains.
