Here in Hutto its part of Texas’s Blackland Prairie Region so there’s so many cretaceous fossils to be found. hutto in particular is super rich with limestone too so the creek i go to has so many fossils/shells. i found thee but not 100% what they are
i want to know if these are worth slicing open or just leaving as is? and are they called “nautilus“ or “nautiloids”?
found this limestone boulder with a huge vein of calcite. have some stained with moss aswell as iron oxidization. any tips for cleaning them?
does anyone know if i were to clean the moss off if it stains the crystals green or if it’s just on the surface? the crystals are very brittle and crumbly so i’m hesitant to clean them too rough but is it worth?
cool little rusty boi!
found this fossil with a geode nodule formed in the center of it, found a few of these egg shaped fossils here in Hutto Tx/ Austin Area. no clue what they are exactly but the one with the geode inside was my first ever find!
some neat pieces of ammonites. Ran into a dude chiseling out an ammonite that was maybe a little over two feet wide and 6in thick from the same creek bed. place is littered with cool aquatic fossils
