I keep seeing these videos recently of robots that are programed to dance, play soccer or do martial arts and I cannot stress enough how much this infuriates me. First of all, dance and sports are such human activities and creating robots to do them defeats their whole purpose. Dance is an art form, a way of self-expression and beauty, and sports is a way of bringing together a community. Both dance and sports require years and years of hard work, physical effort and dedication. Imagine spending your whole life honing your craft only for people to pay money to watch a machine clumsily try to replicate what you have perfected.

Obviously this also applies to other things like artificially generated music and digital art, but what makes it even more insane for physical activities is that robots aren't even remotely good at it these things. Most videos you see are of robots failing to even stand or balance on two legs. I saw one the other day of a "dancing" robot slapping a child across the face while spinning. WHAT IS THE POINT?? ITS NOT EVEN PRACTICAL OR ENJOYABLE TO WATCH??? ROBOTS CANNOT WALK ON TWO LEGS!! WOULDN'T YOU MUCH RATHER WATCH A PROFESSIONAL DANCER OR A REAL HUMAN SPORTS PERSON???

I hate robots that are designed to look humanoid because WHY? They don't need to look like humans they can just look like robots. You don't need to give them a face and arms and legs. Robots that are designed to look like humans are CREEPY AND WEIRD! AND NOT EVEN EFFICIENT! Robots should be designed to do menial tasks, so that humans can spend more time doing human things. AND EVEN THEN THEY SHOULDN'T HAVE FACES OR LEGS! They cannot walk on two legs please stop trying and just give them wheels or something that would actually work!! And they don't need human faces either just a screen!! Because they are NOT humans!!

Can we PLEASE focus on using technology for things that will actually benefit humans and humanity in general? We could be using it for medical innovations and solving global issues and instead I see pieces of metal clanking around trying to do a backflip and falling flat on its "face".
