Filing a claim against an apartment complex.
Hi BR,
I have been dealing with major concerns at my current residence since moving in. I am planning on filing some form of claim or requesting money that I paid for rent back but I don't know where to start.
First, the apartment below me from May 2025 to at earliest early October had a meth lab running out of it which caused my apartment to smell horribly which affected my health.
Then, I had numerous pest control requests that went unfulfilled because neighbors brought roaches in.
Most recently, my wall has been leaking. I put in a request in November which they marked completed. After stepping in a puddle of water from the leak, they ripped up half the carpet and left it ripped up for the last five days. With all this rain, I have a concrete floor soaking wet and soaking into more of the carpet.
I haven't been able to stay at my apartment because it is causing me sinus and breathing problems (no doubt from the mold). I'm moving out soon and I'm at a loss of if I have any ground to stand on as far as a refund or taking to to small claims?
Any advice would be appreciated. And the complex is Lake Towers (renters beware).
