I painted the cabinets SW Evergreen Fog with the idea of whitish marble- looking quartz countertops. We now think we want granite for durability, natural stone, etc. Our quartz sample failed a stain test. We need our countertops to be a work horse! Very budget- minded, so not quartzite. We love Fantasy Brown, but the chocolatey brown seems to not work with our tile. However, the tile is staying. It matches coloring in our fireplace (family room is open to kitchen) & is throughout a lot of our first level. We would keep backsplash & paint color lightish (warm white). We would like a lighter granite, but so many create a lot of beige/gold or busy-ness with the tile. We are considering a soapstone - look black or dark grey granite, but are concerned about everything going too dark. We like Blue Dunes (Azul Celeste), maybe African Rainbow granite. Thoughts? Not a great picture, but you can see the tile with cabinets & some quartz samples we were considering. I did not paint the toe kick, as we have other red oak wood/trim nearby, but might still do that if I should? Maybe honed Virginia Mist or similar. Ideas?
