Japan without anime
Honestly, I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately — what if anime never blew up globally? Would Japan’s culture still have the same global impact?
I get it — anime spots are everywhere now. People flock to Tokyo for Studio Ghibli vibes or shibuya crossing photo ops. But honestly, some locals act like tourists taking pics at “anime spots” are ruining the culture.
But here’s the thing: anime didn’t create Japanese art — it just amplified it. The craftsmanship in traditional crafts, tea ceremonies, and even architecture? That’s deep-rooted. Anime just gave the world a gateway.
And let’s be real — without anime, would we know about kintsugi, wabi-sabi, or ikebana as much? Maybe not. It opened doors.
I’m not saying anime is everything — but it’s definitely part of the story.
