QWER MVs and other kpop MVs in general

I think other agencies or groups need to take note of how QWER does their music videos.

I like MVs with storylines. The industry right now focuses more on aesthetics and studio setups. I’m not complaining, but let’s be honest, it can feel very template-based. Other groups do make storyline MVs too, but usually it’s more of a one-time thing.

  1. Discord - the storyline is a bit weak, but it’s still clear. It leans more toward the aesthetic/studio-type MV.(Debut so it'll be more of an introduction-y vibe)

  2. T.B.H - decent storyline, especially if you watch the musical version too.

  3. FAKE IDOL - more of a studio aesthetic type of MV, but it still has a clear direction and message.

  4. My Name Is Malguem - a cinematic masterpiece with a very heavy storyline, to the point where you almost need an explanation video.

  5. Dear - heavy but very clear storyline. One of my favorite K-pop MVs.

  6. Ceremony - for me, this MV is a reminder of how K-pop MVs should be. A masterpiece. The song is more pop-oriented and closer to usual K-pop compared to other QWER songs, but the MV still has a hilarious and enjoyable storyline. It proves that not only ballad songs can have story-driven MVs. Even happy and cheerful songs can work as short-film-style MVs.

These short-film MVs bring me back to the 2010 to 2017 era of English pop, like Maroon 5 and Justin Bieber

I’m not saying only QWER does this, but it’s rare to see other groups consistently do it. When other artists do it, though, it’s usually really good, like OMG by NewJeans(actual MV), or Life Is A Movie by pH-1.

I want this type of MVs to be a trend in the industry

My take is… this is my least favorite title track, but the thing is, I catch myself singing it when I’m bored🤣 it’s pretty addicting, to be honest. “I GOT THE MAIN CHARACTER ENERGY.”

After listening to the whole album, I think "Ceremony" is the most fitting title track. (the album feels a bit on the weaker side overall).

But even then, “PIONEER” is in my top 3 QWER songs of all time. I really hope they do a performance video or something.

And also... the "Ceremony" music video is my top 2, right after "T.B.H." It's hilarious.
