P2757

Just bought my 03 Lexus LS430 for $3k with 143k miles. Previous owner said the transmission was replaced with another one that had around 80k miles on it and that the transmission was good. I test drove the car with him and everything seemed fine, but of course the next day the check engine light comes on with code P2757.

Honestly, the car drives pretty decent overall and shifts through all the gears normally. I just don’t really want to keep driving it too much right now because according to CARFAX the timing belt has apparently never been serviced, and I need to get that done soon before I risk another issue.

One thing I noticed was when I tried giving it full throttle( this has only happened one time haven’t had this issue again), the RPMs went up and then suddenly dropped. People have told me it could be related to the VSC light, ECU, or transmission. I immediately let off the gas because I didn’t want to damage anything. Since then, I’ve only gradually given it throttle and it seems to drive fine that way.

Another thing I noticed is when I put it in Park and then shift into Drive, sometimes it has a slight lunge/bump going into gear. It doesn’t happen every time though, sometimes it shifts into drive perfectly smooth and other times there’s a little lunge. Not sure if that’s normal on these cars or if it could be related to the P2757 code.

I’ve read a lot about this code and obviously it points toward a solenoid issue, but I’m getting mixed answers everywhere. Some people are saying I need a whole new transmission, while others are saying it could be the ECU, wiring, fluid, solenoid, etc.

Just wanted to know if anyone here has personally dealt with P2757 on an LS430 and what ended up fixing it for you. Trying to figure out if I should start with the simple stuff first or if I should actually be worried about the transmission itself.
