The veil dilemma at destination weddings — what would you do?

Had this come up at a beach wedding in Ibiza recently and it’s something I’ve seen a few times now.

The bride had this long veil she really loved and wanted for the ceremony. It looked amazing at first, very dramatic, (not to mention expensive), but the second she walked down the aisle the wind picked up and basically didn’t stop for the entire ceremony.

We were right on the beach, so it was constant — and the veil just had a mind of its own. Every time the bridesmaid let go for even a second it would fly around aggressively, it was long so it caught on the tree, hit the front line of guests, just completely take over the moment.

In the end, the maid of honour rose to her duties, got up and held it down for the entire ceremony, she stood behind the bride for the whole ceremony holding it in place.

From my side, it did make a few key moments a bit chaotic visually, especially for the ´hero shots´, , so I had to clean a bit up afterwards in photoshop. But nothing major, and it just turned into one of those things we were all laughing about later.

At other weddings the bride decided to just take the veil off completely for the ceremony to avoid that whole situation, and wear it for the couple shoot only.

Has this happened to anyone else — and what did you end up doing when it did?
