Yup, I had attempted this sector 3 other times because of stubbornness before giving up and going to Humid Coastline and Impact to unlock surge and projectors first. They weren't even that lackluster, all of them containing cryo pyratite swarmers, cryo ripples, cryo cyclones, megas, and even one of them where I used cryo fuses (although to be fair, two of them failed because I was running out of pyratite)
