I just want to share this little victory that I made on my Surface Pro. So far everything seems to be working properly on macOS Catalina to macOS Sequoia. But on macOS Tahoe, everything is like broken. Shutdown is even broken, I'll look into it soon but right now I'm happy with it on macOS 15.
What works:
- Audio (ALC 296 with alcid=69)
- Intel Iris Plus Graphics 640 (If you're having problems follow this guide)
- Surface Type Cover
- Battery Indicator
- USB
- Light Sensor (Used the VirtualSMC light sensor)
- MiniDP port
What's not working:
- Wireless & BT (Right now using the TP Link T2U Nano for Wireless. For BT there's so far none since the online shop on my country doesn't have the supported BT USB listed on the Dortania Wireless Buyers Guide)
- Touchscreen (This is supposed to be fixed with BigSurface but I found that it's not working even on Catalina.)
- Built-in Front and Back Camera
- (ONLY ON SONOMA & SEQUOIA) The fading effect when you're system is about to go to sleep/screensaver is basically non existent. There's no slow mo animation just a literal blink. Not a deal breaker but looks annoying and cheap
- (ONLY ON TAHOE) Audio, WiFi, Graphics Accel (its working but very laggy like the config is wrong), Shutdown, prolly everything that goes under the sun atp. Didnt test it thoroughly because it was unbearable. It keeps on Kernel Panicking too which really didnt help that much.
BigSurface was a help but not entirely on the newer macOS versions. On macOS Catalina everything is working properly but as I update my macOS version to Big Sur onwards, stuff like Light Ambient Sensor starts to break which means I used the one on VirtualSMC. Thankfully BigSurface didn't break at all. Battery model and battery health is also not being detected properly starting Big Sur, not a deal breaker tho since battery indicator still works.
Right now, my EFI is still half baked compared to my Core i3 10110U build as there's still stuff (especially on Tahoe) that needs to be repaired and patch. But for now I'll stick with macOS 15 since its still supported anyways. No need to update on Liquid Ass just yet.
And please if your going to ask for my EFI, READ THE RULES!
