Why do so many people hate on oatmeal?
Over the years, I've encountered quite a few people who looked down on me for enjoying oatmeal.
A few years ago, for example, there was this girl who was into me until the night she saw me making oatmeal for dinner. She gave me one of those "ew" looks and disparaged me for delighting in a "struggle meal" lol
More recently, my new supervisor at work saw that I was eating overnight oats every day for lunch (simple concoction of oats, berries, milk and vanilla protein powder). She took so much pity on me that she offered to buy me lunch the next day! I took her up on it (I mean, why not lol) but the ironic thing is the lunch she ended up getting - a sandwich, soup, and soda - was probably far less nutritious than the oatmeal jar I would've eaten instead.
I had no idea people viewed oatmeal this way - as poor people food, basically. Have I been living under a rock this whole time?
