I signed up for SSA and Medicare in the middle of March (same day as my wife)

We both asked to start Medicare on May 1st, SSA on June 1st. She got an approval email with 3 days - and her letter within another 5 days.

I got a letter to call SSA after a week, gave me a callback #. I called every day for 10 days, never received a call back from them. I got another let at the end of the 2 weeks, saying they were still waiting to hear from me. I called for another 3 days and then went to a local office. I found out that they didn't have my direct deposit information - which should make any difference because they can just send me a debit card and pay to the debit account each month.

After 16 days of calls, I got a call back from the original person I was supposed hear from - all seemed well. Except it was not.

Nobody signed me up for Medicare, Medicare has no record of me - nobody can look at my application and verify what date I put down for Medicare - but they are perfectly able to tell me my SSA benefits begin June 1. They all tell me "Medicare will back date". That doesn't help when I need to signup for a Supplemental Plan - they don't accept "Medicare will back date" as a Medicare Account #.

I have called locally, the national number and the number of the field office that fucked up.

Any other suggestions on how to fix this incompetence?

BTW, Albuquerque seems competent (where my wife's application was processed) but KC, not so much.
