Streamers get cases, Loyal Collectors get 'Please Wait'—Bowman Basketball Experience
I’ve reached my breaking point with Topps and their handling of the Bowman Basketball release. I’m curious if anyone else is trapped in this same nightmare.
I pre-ordered my boxes and paid in full TWO MONTHS in advance. I essentially trusting that the "pre-order" would guarantee delivery on or near the May 7th release date.
Here is the reality for loyal collectors right now:
- The Logistical Mess: It’s been days since the 5/7 release. My order hasn't moved. The UPS labels are just "created" and sitting there. Topps is silent.
- The "Be Patient" Insult: When I finally got through to support, their response was a total joke: "It’s delayed, just wait longer. " No accountability, no proactive updates, just zero respect.
- Streamer Privilege: Every major streamer and big-time dealer was ripping cases on (or before) May 7th. Meanwhile, the individual collectors who actually fund this hobby are left in the dark.
- The Hobby/Jumbo Drought: I spend over $10k annually on this hobby, but this year it’s become impossible to even buy what I want. I’m clicking the second the windows open for Hobby and Jumbo boxes of popular sets, and I’m hitting 0. The only thing they seem to have plenty of is the mass-produced Flagship products.
Why am I spending five figures a year to have to track my own packages and beg for updates? It’s Topps' job to manage logistics and fulfill their promises. Instead, they take our money months early and treat us like an inconvenience.
The worst part? We’re stuck. We feel forced to do the pre-order SKU because the markups on release day are insane, and if you don't pre-order, you might not get one anyway. It’s a predatory cycle and the worst customer experience I've had in years.
