I’m on the hunt for the 30th anniversary steelbook of Coppola’s Dracula. On eBay it sells for $50-100, but on Amazon a third party seller has a “reprint” for just $30. Something feels off. Curious what other people think.

Last week I went in to Armoury Crate to check for updates. During the update process a pop up appeared asking if I wanted to share location info. I’m not sure what I was thinking but I clicked “ok” and immediately regretted it because I have no desire to share my location.

After searching and searching Armoury crate, tho, I can’t find this setting.

Anyone have any ideas? One of the items being updated was firmware, so I’m not sure if it’s somehow tied to that. Even so, I don’t remember any location settings in the firmware.

First off, I'm fairly new to this: my existing sound equipment was installed by the previous owner of my home (it's all in-ceiling).

I want to upgrade to a 5.1.2 setup and I'd love some info/feedback particularly because my space is challenging: the living room/HT area is part of an open floor plan, it's fairly tight (in terms of area), and one side has a wall with windows while the other is open.

At this point I've narrowed down my list of bookshelf speakers but the room situation is making me unsure of how to proceed.

Media consumption: 95% TV/movies, 5% music

Speakers I'm considering

  • Kef Q1 Meta
  • ELAC Debut 3.0
  • Emotiva Airmotiv XB2
  • Paradigm Monitor SE

My preference is a neutral sound signature. My understanding is that's better for movies/TV. That said, if one of these speakers is meaningfully more forgiving of my room situation (more on that below), I'm open to reconsidering.

Key Questions

  • Do any of those speakers do better with movies/TV than the others? Are any of them particularly good with imaging?
  • Given my room, placement forgiveness seems critical. Of these speakers, which are most forgiving in a non-symmetrical room where the overall speaker arrangement may not be ideal?
  • With one side with a wall and the opposite side open, I'm unsure of how to think about horizontal soundstage: will I be better off with wider or narrower? More broadly, how will my space impact soundstage?

Here are some core details:

  • Goal: 5.1.2 setup
  • Living Room/HT space Dimensions: 14.75x10'
  • Ceiling height: 9'
  • Main Listening Position distance from TV: 9'
  • Left of TV: a wall with windows
  • Right of TV: open space/stairs
  • Existing speakers: Klipsch R-1650-C in-ceiling. Will use two as height speakers--the rest will go unused or will be repurposed.
  • AVR: Denon AVR-X1700H (I recognize it maxes out at 7.2 or 5.2.2)
  • Subwoofer: planning to add a powered sub

I recognize that some of the speakers I listed have a 4 ohm impedance, which is lower than what the X1700H can support. I have done my homework and based on what I've found I should be fine with 4 ohm speakers (so long as I don't turn them up to 100 dB, which I won't).
