Preventing clogs with CF Nylon
Hey yall,
I’ve been printing a lot more PA6 lately, both CF and GF, and had my first ever clog on my P2S last weekend. Noticed it when the P2S with .6mm Tungsten nozzle started air printing halfway through a Gurokku 17. Which the printer didn’t detect btw, but separate issue.
Eventually identified the nozzle was super clogged after first rerouting my PTFE tubes, and even bypassing the buffer entirely. The clog was all the way up to the top, and I could NOT get anything out with cold pulls or “persuading” new filament into the top hole. Ultimate fix was heating to 300 and just reaming it out with a .4mm needle. Printing great now.
What is the best way to prevent this? My PA is ALWAYS very thoroughly dried. 100C for minimum of 12 hours in a temp probes convection oven. Should I run some PLA through it after every nylon print so there’s never nylon left in the hot end for extended periods? Other options?
Thanks!
